History

Cornerstone’s history of project management for building, renovating, and remodeling of both public and private facilities is noteworthy. Our team is recognized by owners, contractors, site staffs, and governing boards for outstanding management of complex and challenging building and development projects.

After working many years for others in the construction project management field, it was apparent to Rick Rainone that owners were not always being adequately served; he saw a need for a different approach. His regard for clients’ welfare led him to establish Cornerstone Management Group, Inc. in 2001 with a promise that he would represent owners with the best professional service possible. Based upon his integrity, convictions, and determination, Rick has assembled a close-knit team of knowledgeable, experienced, and dedicated project managers who share his philosophy that “It’s all about the client.”

As of 2016, our skilled management team has completed over 800 construction projects in Oregon valued at approximately $4.5 billion, and all projects have been delivered safely, on time, and on or under budget while meeting or exceeding the quality of work expected by the owners. Cornerstone has completed five LEED Gold and two LEED Silver projects in Oregon which gives us the ability to recommend “confirmable sustainability” guidelines for the construction projects we manage.

We have developed solid relationships with experienced designers, consultants, and contractors. All are keenly aware of the importance of value engineering, cost control, and the need for rigid scheduling. Our Firm has assisted school districts manage over 103 successful CM/GC school design and construction projects and over 700 Design/Bid/Build projects in Oregon.

Cornerstone’s impressive historical experience has given us the ability to see a project from conception to completion and to address potential problems before they occur, as well as giving us the foresight to avoid unnecessary costs.

Although we have had clients in many areas of the northwest region, our work has focused primarily on projects in the Portland, Salem, and Eugene, Oregon areas.
